Senior Backend Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the services that power our product. You’ll own systems end to end — from database schema to production API — and help set the technical direction for the backend team.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
• Model data and manage relational and non-relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis)
• Own services in production: performance, reliability, monitoring, and on-call
• Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code and review peers’ work
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend to ship features end to end
• Improve system architecture, reduce tech debt, and drive engineering best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring and technical standards

• 5+ years building and shipping backend systems in production
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g. Python, Go, Node.js, Java)
• Solid grasp of database design, indexing, and query optimization
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and observability tooling
• Strong communication skills and a track record of collaborating across teams
• Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams

• Experience with event-driven or microservices architectures
• Exposure to message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
• Prior experience mentoring or leading a small team
